The trailer for Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom

iTunes has released the first trailer for Wes Anderson’s new film, Moonrise Kingdom, and you can click on the link above to watch it! How exciting! The script was written by Anderson and Roman Coppola*, and the website features a short summary:

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, MOONRISE KINGDOM tells the story of two twelve-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore — and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in more ways than anyone can handle.

So far Moonrise Kingdom looks exactly like what it is: a Wes Anderson movie. Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzmen are in it. Every scene is perfectly stylized and framed. The children are all adventurous and precocious. However, there are a few noticeable departures. The true Anderson junkie (me) may have been taken aback at the trailer’s lacking Futura font, or the cast’s lacking either of the Wilson brothers.

That being said, I am exuberantly happy about this news. Exuberantly happy.

*For a fine example of Coppola’s previous work with Wes, I direct you to that beer commercial they made together.
